Explore the Different Ways in Making a Hammock for Rabbits

There are different ways to make a hammock for your rat. Before you start making one, consider which method you are going to use in fixing the hammock to the cage. Find a piece of material, and then use paper clips and push it through the cloth. You may also add little key ring carabineers to make chains and the key clips with the key rings should be pushed through the cloth. Metal grommets can actually give a strong and neat edge to the holes and the chains or the thick rope can be threaded through tube-type hammocks or you can just simply clip it to each corner. Insert the string through a small hole at each corner. With the ends sewn into the seam, loop the ribbon or the cord you used. And then, use D-rings and fold the fabric around it and sew the straight edge after folding a corner of the fabric through the D-ring, then sew it down. In this way, you can have a permanent fixing for your clips. However, if you are making your rat  hammock , leave a gap in your sewing machine; place the ring into the seam, and then back-stitch through the ring.

Quicker and Easier Steps

You can use whatever piece of material you may want such as jeans, towel, pillow case, and so on. Take a pillow case. Measure the cage and then use it as the overall length of the  hammock  you are about to make. Fold the pillow case in half if it still too big for the cage, and then attach each corner to the rabbit cage.
When using jeans as the material, you should cut the legs off to a hammock length. Thread onto chains to suspend across the cage and fix it together for a tent-like  hammock . After cutting off the legs of the jeans, take the remaining top piece and sew the leg holes to enclose it make it a large pocket instead. Attach this on top of the cage using the belt loops. Your old hat can also serve as a material. By just fixing it or attaching it to the side of the cage can make it like a pocket where the pet can sleep.

As for making a fleece blanket hammocks, the instructions are also simple and as easy as the previous ones. The first step is to find a piece of blanket in a plain rectangular shape. Use the softer side of the blanket. Fold it in half with the right sides together. And if you are adding loops, insert them within the seams with the ends sticking out at the edges of the material. Sew it with a machine vertically and turn over, and then sew up the hole.

Triangular shape hammocks fit into the corner of the cage. In doing this, you just have to cut the piece of material into a square, following the length of the cage of course. Fold it diagonally with right sides together. Trim one side so that the longer edge is slightly shorter and if you are going to add some loops, insert them into the seams. After doing this, sew the edges only which leaves you a half-inch gap to turn it through. Lastly, run a line of stitching along the longest edge to tighten it.
