Learn How to Make a Hammock for Dogs

Nowadays, there are many ways on how people spoil their favorite pets. One of which is by providing them a hammock specifically-designed for their use and comfort. Surprisingly, hammocks are almost applicable to all kinds of purpose, be it for babies, adults, campers, and pets. Many people own a dog and it would be better to spoil your dog with a   hammock to make them more relaxed in your home.

Doing this should not be that expensive, when in fact you can make your own swing at your own house. So, here below are the instructions on how to make a hammock for pets.
Start making a swing for your dog by preparing the following materials:

Wood screws
Eyebolts
Thick thread
Sewing needle
Scissors
Wood boards (2 x 2 inches)
Nylon straps, two inches wide by one to three feet-long
Single layer blanket
Steel rings

The first step is to build a wooden base, considering that the dog will jump in and out of it. In this way, they can move around steadily and sleep soundly. This can be done by using the 2 x 2 inches wooden boards and make a rectangular frame to sit on the surface. This should be at least 2.5 feet long by 1.5 feet wide meant for smaller dogs. For large dogs, it is advisable to build a wooden base with 5.5 feet long by 4.5 feet wide. The wood screws are meant to attach the boards together at both ends. Each of the board corners should be attached vertically with a measurement of 1.5 feet tall for small dogs, 2.5 feet tall for medium-sized dogs, and 3.5 feet tall for large dogs. And then, place the eyebolts on top of the vertical board and this should be facing inward.

In making the   hammock bed, use the blanket. You will need to cut the blanket to three feet long by two feet wide to suit small dogs and adjust the blanket size for larger dogs if necessary. It is also best to hem the edges of the blanket so that it doesn’t unravel afterwards. As for the straps, cut some holes for the support when you start hanging the hammock. It should be about 1.5 inches to two inches diagonally starting from each corner while the holes should be 1.5 inches in diameter. Next, hem the edges of the holes to prevent it from tearing apart. The straps should be attached to the hammock bed, requiring you to sew the steel rings to each end of the straps. And then, hook one end through the holes you created and make sure that it will not easily loosen. Hook the other end to the eyebolts that are located in the wooden base.

However, when making this, you should know how your dog sleeps. For instance, if the dog sleeps with its legs outstretched, you might as well consider making their hammock wider. Hanging the swing in a short distance from the floor allows the dogs to jump regardless of their sizes.
