Hanging a hammock in a proper way is important to ensure safety and stability. This may also require at least two people to assist you when setting up the poles to be used. If the pair of trees is farther apart from this, you will most likely need a rope to extend the hanging points. Most camping experts recommend extending the points for hanging in equal lengths on both ends of the swing and the extension should not get farther than 18 feet on each end. Getting beyond 18 feet as the maximum distance would be risky for the person who will use it.

Hammocks without spreader bars have a more flexible set up process. Similar to the previous one, this also has an overall length as determined by the end-to-end points of the hanging distance suitable for your  hammock . The minimum hanging distance for swings without spreader bars will be less than the overall length of the swing. It is because those without spreader bars are designed with a dip in them. The minimum hanging distance for this one should be two-thirds of the overall length of the swing. For instance, if it is 180 inches from one end to the other end the minimum distance is 120 inches. As for the maximum distance, you would simply add two feet from the minimum hanging distance. Keep in mind that these distances can be adjusted to suit your particular needs. This only goes to show that  hammockss without spreader bars are flexible enough to be adjusted in terms of how they can be hung between trees. Visually, the closer you place the hanging points, the higher off of the ground you must go.
