Learn How To Install a Hammock Without Trees

Installing a hammock without trees? Surprisingly, it is possible. Portable hammocks make life easier for campers, but on the beach people can no longer enjoy the extreme comfort of hanging suspended in the air. For about less than a hundred dollar, you can buy and hang your hammock anywhere you will go and you don’t need to worry about critters. This should favor backpackers who are always on the go. Some of the important factors they consider when buying a portable hammock include weight, strength, and size. Of course, you should follow the rule “the lighter the better” as it will be much easier to assemble. Most portable hammocks can be folded, and it is important to pick those become even smaller in size when folded. This is important for storage and transport. Another factor is the strength, making it imperative for you to choose the one that will support your own weight. The interesting part is that you can hang it even without any tree around. So, included below are some of the steps in setting up a portable  hammock  without trees:

The first step starts with finding a hardware store and have your aircraft table cut into two pieces of about one-sixteen inch. Buy six pieces of 1/16-inch cable clamps, four pieces of ½ inch by 10 inch lag bolts, and two shorter lag bolts not less than six inches long. You may also need to have one inch round aluminum tubing of at least four feet long.

Upon arriving at the location, use the cable clamps and make a loop on each end of the cable. There should be three clamps for each loop to ensure safety. Drill an inch of hole though one end of each tube with about two inches from the en. Insert a bolt without locknut into each of the holes you made. To install the poles properly, use a ratcheting socket wrench, screw six-inch lag bolts into the ground and make sure that it will be eight to twelve feet apart. Leave one-half inch sticking out of the ground. The poles should go over the heads of the bolts since they can keep the platform from shifting position. At one end, screw in one of the ten-inch lag bolts.

Going back to the cable clamps, remove its nuts and make a loop at around the midpoint of the first aircraft cable but just big enough to fit over the pole. Hold the pole tight and upright, and then slide the loop to make each cable very tight. Screw in a ten-inch lag bolt at one of the poles to secure the first pole. Have someone hold it upright while locating the other pole. And then, repeat the steps in this paragraph and use now the second piece of aircraft table. In mounting the hammock, use two half hitches at the other opposite sides of the pole. So, there should be four poles all-in-all and a tubing or the spreader bar in the middle. Place your  hammock  in the middle and sit on it to make sure that you won’t hit the ground. If you are only an inch above the ground, there should be some re-adjustments to be made.
